The photo was taken hand held using a high speed sync flash to overcome the very dark conditions.

This photo was taken using a canon 20D, 100-400 zoom and a 420 speedlite flash set to high speed sync. Not the greatest shot, but it is the only one I’ve managed to capture of this cryptic bird.
