Artist's Description

Magic colors struck earth on october 25, 2011.
This was just outside the city of Tromsø, Norway.
I had an amazing photo trip this evening/night. After weeks with poor weather conditions, I didn’t have much hope for clear sky this night either. But just before midnight it started to clear up. And what a display I withnessed!
I’ve never seen red and purple Auroras with the naked eye before tonight. In some of the photos I even got red reflections in the sea. And this are actual colors. Nothing added.
Over the tree Jupiter shines, and the peliades is visible, as well. To the left, between the clouds are Orion
Canon EOS 7D, with Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8 ISO 800, 10 seconds exposure
