Magic colors struck earth on october 25, 2011. This is Aurora Borealis / North Light at the most spectacular.
This photo was taken just outside the city of Tromsø, Norway.
I had an amazing photo trip this evening/night. After weeks with poor weather conditions, I didn’t have much hope for clear sky tonight, either. But just before midnight it started to clear up. And what a display I withnessed!
I’ve never seen red and purple Auroras with the naked eye before tonight. In some of the photos I even got red reflections in the sea.
Over the tree Jupiter shines, and the peliades is visible, as well

Beautiful! If the weather cooperates here, I’m going out tonight- the lights are supposed to be visible again by my house tonight! Last night almost the whole northern part of the country got to see the red lights!

This is stunning! The tree in the foreground anchors the whole composition, and the sky is simply unreal. The lights were seen in Marquette, Michigan last night, but I’m unfortunately about 12 hours away, even though I do live in Michigan. Otherwise, I’d be camped out with my camera, too.
