Great Auroras on september 22, 2011, in the arctic parts of Norway.
Hillesoy island, just outside Tromso, Norway.
It was a long wait until I finally got to see this. My trip lasted from 6 pm to 3 am. A little bit tricky with all the light from the moon. Still great temperature in the arctic, with 10+ degrees C in the middle of the night. It has been raining for several days. I wonder if this is the reason the sky looks very crisp and clear… Camera: Canon EOS 7D, with Tokina 11-16 mm f/2,8.
Settings: ISO 1000, 15 seconds exposure, f/ 3,2
Winner of challenge, “After Dark” in “The Power of Photography” group.
