It’s not often I get the chance to photograph both the sunset and the Northern Lights at the same time.
Picture taken on April 6th 2011 at Hillesøy island just outside Tromsø, Norway. In the distance the island of Haja, with the shark fin shape.
The winter is slowly letting go by april, and spring is approaching. But still there’s plenty of snow in the mountains.
Picture was taken at 10:30 in the evening. At this latitude the sun is shining all 24 hours of the day during the summertime, (midnight sun). This time of year is rapidly coming, and this is why we still can see the remains of the sunset.
Canon EOS 7D, with Tokina 11-16 mm /f2.8. 8 seconds exposure and ISO 800
