The Future is Now, Forget the Past, Liverpool

The Future is Now, Forget the Past, Liverpool

I have a passion for decaying architecture. I love the aging process which creates a beauty all of its own. The paradox of a derelict cinema called the Futurist in the centre of a busy city where new buildings are springing up all around. Why do we let the most wonderful buildings fall into ruin whilst spending fortunes to build new structures? I hope you appreciate this.

It’s great that everyone likes this one so much. It has always generate a love hate relationship in the past with people either loving it or hating it. Thanks for taking the time to feedback.

I suspect people keep building new ones for the same reason they keep trying to make themselves look young…fashion has a lot to answer for! This is an amazing piece, love what you’ve found here!

this picture has to be perfect irony – futurism and decay
I will live in a building like this and fill it with art by Umberto Boccioni, i just hope this building is still standing thanks for visually preserving such faded grandeur!!!

Been to the Futurist many times in the 1950s there was another 2 cinemas in the same road. 1 on the same side as this practically next door and 1 directly opposite Used to like the one down church St also called the Tatler. Sign of the times I’m afraid In the late 40s and early 50s I used to go to the cinema alot .The picture changed on a Thursday . If it was a B film I could go in myself but if it was an A film I had to stand outside and ask people if they would take me in .You couldn’t do that these days . Front stalls was 6d ( 2-1/2p) back stalls was 9d ( about 4p) AAAHHH Memories,Memories .
