this is a 2 1/2 inch high peice of grass covered in ice – the blue is the sky’s reflection – we had a 9 hour ice storm 12/11/08 that left us without power for 6 days. The Monadnock Region of New Hampshire (NH) was one of the hardest hit areas in this 4 state storm. At its height, over 1.5 mil people were without power with over 400,000 of them in NH. Some parts hope to have electric by the new year. Poles snapped in half, transformers blew, trees tangled up in lines bent over and when 3 days later as the inch or more layer starting really melting snapped back in to place taking lines with them.

  • going to put up another shot of the area, it looked like a little ice people landscape if that translates.

This is lovely-and SO unusual. Nature can be SO beautiful. However, in your area, unfortunately it was destructive as well. Have been through a few-yuk. Hope things are better now.

  • thanks Jane, we had a bad one last feb but nothing at all like this, one town 80% still out 8 days later. If we get the 12" predicted today, will hinder what the electric linemen are doing.
