Great shot! We don’t have black squirrels where I live, so it is great to see one! Very unusual! :-)
RLHall replied
Thanks so much Hobbers, years ago we never saw them either, but they are becoming more and more prevalent…They are really Grey Squirrels, with a variation in color.
Hobbers
I wonder which colour they will evolve into next? Green perhaps?!
RLHall replied
We also have, half grey/half red squirrels, as they have interbreeded…I think I’ve read that those occur in the UK also. We have all white (white tailed) deer also, some are true albinos, some just white colored where they would normally be mostly brown. Who knows, maybe we will even be green one day, like a race from Mars!
Russell Fry
I saw one in upper PA. many years ago, but not since. We should get your black squirrel and my albino squirrel together for a photo shoot… lol
RLHall replied
I just looked at your albino pic, so cute! I’m in NY, never seen a white one…would be some cool shots, lol Thanks for the comment, fav, and watchlist :-)

Oh wow ! A black squirrel? So that would make this a Black and White photo? Or is it color….hmmm!
Either way it is a terrific image!!
RLHall replied
I almost put it in the B&W Photo group, but in truth it is a color photo!
Didn’t want anyone to think I took a pic of a gray squirrel in B&W, and called it a black squirrel! Thanks for the great comment, Jamaboop!
CinB

RLHall replied
Thanks so much, CinB, he was quite a character! :-)
picketty
shouldnt he be hibernating?
RLHall replied
Nope, they are out and about all winter, unless there’s a bad storm and then they hide out in a tree or somewhere sheltered for awhile…
Thanks for the comment :-)
