That could not have been easy to get a shot like that. Nice.
Richard Heeks
Yep, lots of attempts to get this capture. I’ve pretty much mastered bubble shots, so a popping bubble seems like a logical progression.

Cracks me up. Somewhere in the Assumptions Folder of my mind, I always figured the soapy gap flings in all directions. I’m so relieved now that you have solved this mystery for me. And this concludes “Your capture is Cool” portion of this comment. Great Shot!

wow perfection would be an understatement
Richard Heeks
Thanks for all the lovely comments. It did take a few tries Elizabeth, but I’ve been photographing bubbles for a year or so now, so popping bubbles are an extension of that. I count down “3, 2, 1….” and Sarah pops them while I take a burst of shots on my Nikon D90 (which does ‘bursts’). Only took 10 minutes or so to capture this.
Richard Heeks
Oh, and I know what you mean Maureen – about how bubbles don’t actually explode or implode. They just kind of disappear in a hail of bits.
Ryan Bird
Fantastic work. What a terrific idea! I’m checking out more of your bubble pictures thanks to this one!

Good thing bubbles are cheap – you probably caused a photographers run on the bubble stores. And yes, your expertise is apparent and appreciated for the results.
Junior Mclean
Cool effect, I like to try that in 3D!!!
