Turret Ridge from Owl Creek Pass Road by

Just East of the Owl Creek Pass summit, in Ouray County, Colorado. I understand this to be Turret Ridge and it seems apt. The highest point is nearly 12,000 ft, (3700m).

A 9 frame HDR panorama, the HDR is 3 @ 2EV Raw.
Canon EOS 50D, 55mm, f11, middle exposure 1/128, mostly.
Processed in Photomatix Pro 4.1, and PS Elements 9.

This looks glorious Dick, unfortunately the large view is not much bigger than the normal view :( It’s the sort of image that needs to be seen big to do it justice, I reckon it would look awesome on a big screen :)

  • True, and RB seems to not “get it” with so much wasted space. The image is 20,343 pixels wide and at 300 dpi would print nearly 68’’ x 15.5 with no enlargement. It would take more than a dozen iphones to hold it… ;)

Is there gold in them there hills, Dick?
This pano must have taken ages to create, beautiful work

  • It was rather tedious to make, and does not show off well here, sadly. I’d think very tiny amounts of gold are possible as it seems to be volcanic in origin, same as me…
Thanks much for your kind comments and fav.
