Oh my I love the way the mine blends it with its surroundings

sublime rustic genius from you xoxo

  • Thanks Lisa. I love playing with that old dark wood with HDR, as it really bring up the patterns in it.

A very impressive image, Dick! What a great result from all your hard work!

  • Thanks Mel. I just poked the button a couple times. ;) Of course at those elevations just hauling the tripod around can be hard work…
The mountain in the background is one of the three Red Mountains there, next to each other. Rather ingeniously named Red Mountain 1, etc.

Great image Dick……………love the treatment, framing and location.

  • Thanks Ade. Fun to imagine what it was like back then. Some of these mines had electricity before New York City did.

This is fabulous Dick, another one of those images that is so perfectly suited to HDR processing, and the two shot vertical panorama has been done beautifully. A really attractive and compelling image :-)

  • Thank you Matt very much. Yes, I thought the Pano was better than a crop as the building base was as wide as it was tall. We so seldom think to do the vertical pano, too. Used the tripod and Live View to raise the mirror and minimize shake on the longer exposure.

Oh my gosh, looks like it’s made of matchsticks and could blow over at any time, lovely capture, :o)

  • Thanks Josie. Actually it will be the winter snow load or avalanche that will bring it down someday. Or some fool will burn it.
Always good to take the pictures when you can…
