Beautiful little spring flower which originates from Siberia, hence it starts to flower the same time as snowdrops. Rather like a mini-bluebell, but much hardier. The plants are about 6-8" high overall.
This one was optiistic yesterday and fully open.
Exmoor, UK. Canon 550D with 1970s Zeiss 35/2.4 manual lens + adapter.

Thanks to RB for fixing my auto-reply emails, things are so much easier, and after a month without it I really appreciate it!

Good times to all,

Dave.

I am a keen amateur photographer enjoying wildlife and nature images taken in West Somerset and on Exmoor.
I am a grandfather and enjoy my reclusive life on the edge of Exmoor, among the wildlife, birds, and nature.
I hope to learn more skills and techniques from some of the amazing artists on this site.

All I’ve seen here so far are daffodils, but it is warming up and I hope we have some more lovely flowers like this one. Love the name of it!!

  • Very hardy little flower, friend. But we are supposed to get some snow tonight so they need to be! I may try the bubble wrap with Jemima’s offspring if it does…

    Gorgeous colours!

  • Thanks so much, Carol, they are my favourite spring flower, always very early, and a blue to equal bluebells. They were here when I moved here, and I had to look them up on the net. Guess because they originated from Siberia they are very hardy!
    All the best,
    Dave.

Lovely shot of a lovely flower. That scrumptious blue is set off beautifully by the dark greenery.

  • Thanks for the lovely comments, Bette, it has to be my favourite spring flower, but I don’t think it is that common as I haven’t seen any in other gardens locally.
    All the best,
    Dave ;-)

Wonderful capture, love how the blue is brought out in this delicate shot, Dave !

  • Very glad you like it Effie, the blue is really striking. I’ll get called a heretic but I amost prefer them to bluebells, especially as they come out so cheerfully way before the latter. I wond if there are woods full of these in Siberia? ;-)
    All the best,
    Dave ;-)
