Laura Ashburn

I am 17 years old and self-taught. I have only been into photography seriously for about a year, but have had an interest in it for about 3 years.

Most of the photos in my gallery have been shot with a Sony DSC-H9 (point-and-shoot), but I have recently purchased a Canon EOS 5D and will be using that from now on. I do all my post-processing on Adobe Photoshops Elements 3.0.

My main focus is on landscape/waterscape and nature photography. I like to try all sorts of subjects, but my heart truely lies shooting outside in nature.

Aside from photography, my main interests include almost all things outdoors, especially kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking, and biking. Traveling is also one of my favorite things to do. I just love being able to get to know the world around me and experience new surroundings. I am also very interested in environmental studies and issues and plan on studying that subject in college. I also love to draw and ride my horse and I have been a vegetarian for pretty much my whole life.

I still have a lot to learn about photography and I am very determined to improve, so I am open to any suggestions or critique. I still consider myself a beginner, so I got a whole lotta learning ahead of me. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my photos. It’s much appreciated. =)
