Magical Woods
In the forbidded forest, beyond the yard of the neighbors, there was a magical place. That magical place was somewhere only I could see. I could show it to other’s but they wouldn’t experience as I did.
Sure, it wasn’t so very far away from civilization, but whoever said magic places had to be? It was one of those days I just wanted to go explore.
Now, the neighbor was a very angry man. If he would have caught me, my parents would have been in for it more than I would have been.
Nevertheless, I decided to explore into that forest anyhow. I’d went by it so many times. That incredible opening path to his forest. There couldn’t have been a more beautiful welcoming. I crept to the opening and dissapeared into the opening without being seen. I walked along the large, beautiful path. The afternoon sunlight peeked in through the trees, casting the figurely shadows of the trees. The summer air was warm and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day to be outside. I came to a place where the path split off in two different directions. Left, or right. The path on the right looked a little difficult, but I wanted to try it out first. Though it was bright and well before anytime that it would be getting dark soon, the woods gave me a slight chill as I stepped under and over branches. Over a pretty big log, there seemed to be what was left of a stream. It was still wet inside, like a swamp, but there was no sign of anything living inside. I spotted something green, not a dull grass green, but a bright lively green. I bent down to examine it, and reconized it from my science book, as one of those fly trapping plants. The top had what looked lyke a mouth, with teeth all over. There were also a few dead flys inside the plant. I smiled, proud I actually had seen this. Afterwards, I started to try to cross the stream without getting my shoes wet. When I finally made it over, the other side of the desserted stream had a creepyness in the air. I was suddenly extremely afraid. My eyes darted around in fear of something coming at me. I did a double take at something that completely alarmed me. I swore for the life of me that I saw a tiger. My heart stopped beating and I immediately threw myself back over to the other side of the stream. Once I had made it back to the place where the path had orginally split off, I wasn’t as afraid anymore. I had definately chosen the wrong way to go, and though I was still completely sure of what I had seen, somehow I knew that it couldn’t get me when I wasn’t over there. I was safe, for now.
I started my way into the path on the right. I could tell right away that it was a much longer path, with a lot more to it of which I could explore. For a long while I was simply walking through the woods on the path. I didn’t look back, and I wasn’t worried about getting lost. I was pretty confident I could easily find my way back.
I enjoyed the beautiful day, and the mysterious woods as I walked through them.
Soon I came to a place that was off of the path I’d been following. There was a rusty old bench sitting on an incline. It might have been old, but it was still good to sit on. There were one or two beer cans littered on the bench and on the ground around it. The bench faced toward something I’d never imagined I could see in that forest. There was what was obviously an old waterfall. Not just a small one, a huge one, maybe twenty feet tall. It wasn’t that close to the bench but it was a prefect view of it. Only a little water fell from the waterfall, as the rest seemed to all be damp sticks and logs. It looked so incredibly and beautiful. A great place to sit and just think, or maybe even draw. I fell in love with it all instantly. I didn’t stay though, I knew I had to leave that place. There was a feeling I got from it, I knew I shouldn’t be there.
I retraced my footsteps back to where the path had started. I easily found my way back, just like I knew I would. Once I got back to the original path, I smiled to myself. There really was some magic in those woods. I felt it. I really did.
