A group of mushrooms growing from a single mycelial substrate. I have grouped them together because they are all mushrooms that have been used by different cultures for spiritual, medicinal or recreational purposes. They are: Amanita Muscaria, or Fly Agaric, which is reported to have been used by Siberian shamen among others; Psilocybe Semilanceata, or Liberty Cap, which has been used extensively by young and old alike across europe; and a stylised Psilocybe Cubensis. The cubensis in this image represents a mushroom ancestor: according to the theory of panspermia, life may have spread across the universe in the form of spores or bacteria which may have travelled on asteroids and comets. I find this idea intriguing. Fungi are fascinating!
