Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. A HUGE influence and one of the first female singers I respected for not having girlie vocals and not behaving like a princess.

Love their popular music, but this is when they really rocked.

Outline traced with pencil from poster, details filled in free-hand with pencil, photographed, uploaded to computer, sized, played with in photo shop and GIMP and then put against a blue grunge-type background found on a free texture site. I had the background saved in my files forever and now cannot find the site online to reference.

Creating from both light and dark places, I create the stuff of dreams and the heat of nightmares. Most of my art and writing comes from a life of crazy, frightening and wonderful experiences. I’m also somewhat touched in the head, or so I’m told.

I am a wife, mother, artist, author (novelist, poet, story teller, part time comedic writer) college administrator and former rock goddess.

OOOH I LIKE. How was this done? Yeah Hahahaha…Just the epitome of cool!

  • Howdy you. I guess I should put this into the description, lol. I free-hand drew from a poster, although I traced the outline, took a pic, uploaded, shrunk it, played with it in photo shop and GIMP and then put it against a blue grunge-type background.

Glad you like. She’s the bomb.

Rikki, this AWSOME work! I had no idea you were such a GREAT artist! What else can you do!? Yes, Chrissie so rocketh! I’ve always loved her voice too…real, raw and intense…plays a mean guitar too! =) XO

  • She is one of my favorites, if not my favorite female vocalist/guitarist. She’s incredible. She’s also funny and irreverant. I don’t particularly agree with her politics at times, but it doesn’t affect my loving her music. Thanks for checking this out. xxoo

That’s a great effect you put on this Rikki. I could definitely see a series in the making.

  • I like the suggestion of a series. Shall think about it. Thanks Mobii.

A princess, never, but a legend, certainly. Maybe a bit like you? or would you prefer the title princess. Somehow I think not, no offence intended

  • I’m so not offended. It’s pretty difficult to offend me, as a matter of fact. I have some princess tendencies, but mostly not. Chrissie is surely a legend…a talented, intelligent, gorgeous legend. xxoo
