I have a fantastic job, because I’m a speed camera operator. Every day I spend my time on the open road being congratulated by the public for the fantastic work I do. I’m such a lucky guy. As they drive past, they flash their lights to let me know I’m doing a great job. They toot their horns to say ‘thank you’. I hear them shout a hearty “Doing a fantastic job you count!” on their way. I have no idea what ‘count’ means in this context. Perhaps they like that guy. And then every so often, a member of the public will make a point to stop his car, get out, and engage in some lively debate as to the legality of my employment, my sexual preferences, and the legitmacy of my birth. The best part though, is that as all of my friends in the general public drive their cars past, they make sure to catch my eye and give me a “You’re number one!” sign with their middle fingers.
You might say that it’s the little things that make a difference in a guy’s day. When people are saying ‘thank you’ to me all day long in their own ways, I can’t help but feel valued and appreciated. I feel lucky to have such a great job. Every day I wake up feeling like I’m the king of the world.
