My head is bloody, but unbowed.

I am almost legally blind, and yet I am a primarily visual person. Living with visual limitations and being a scientific minded kid guided my interest in vision, optics, telescope making, and photography. It seems I entered art through the side door of science and curiosity.

I am so glad you favor this poem!
I have carried this poem with me since I was fourteen., I had no idea that Nelson Mandela recited it frequently to himself while incarcerated all those years.
    Invictus – the poem
    by William Earnest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
    Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
