    Thanks for the comment Anne, a texture layer is a textured image that is dragged onto the background layer, it then becomes a layer itself, you can add a mask to this and erase any of the texture that is not required, you can alter it’s opacity, apply a blending mode, use any of the tools and filters. i.e. you can change and alter it, till your hearts content !! Then … you can put another one on top of that !!
