Llyn Cwellyn .....

A beautiful lake that sits in view of Mount Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park, Wales UK.
Two paths to the summit start from around here, the Rhyd Ddu and the Ranger.
Standing at over 3000ft, it’s quite a trek to the top, but you’re rewarded with spectacular views, as long as its a clear day !

Gorgeous image, Richie! As long as it’s a clear day, hey? Does that happen often? :)

  • richiedean replied

I’ve just got back from a 3 day stay and the summit was cloaked in cloud the whole time ….... I have been fortunate to be on the top when it was clear but I still had to don my jacket against the cold !!
The last time I ventured up, the sun was out at ground level, but by the time I reached the summit, hailstones were bouncing off my head !! So it’s all down to luck ….. cheers Mel …....... :))

  • Stuart Chapman

    Stuart Chapman

Very beautiful and serene and well worthy the trek to the top (but best not in a car down a one way track of course!)

  • richiedean replied

This is at the bottom Stuart ….... sorry for the confusion …....
I know how fond you are of driving and reversing along narrow tracks, but even you’d find it impossible to drive to the top ….. although there is a railway to the summit !!!!!

I climbed a hill a bit like that on the weekend too….one minute sun, one minute mist…...was a bit of a shock for me….LOL (especially the cold!!!)

  • richiedean replied

I thought that I’d had enough after my first tiring hike, but the lure of unseen natural and manmade attractions drew me out ….... my first was 3 miles, my last to date 14 miles, took me 5 hours …....... :))

Lovely image and needs a larger view to apprecaite the composition with the boat.
We tried Snowdon a few months back…got there and it poured..went back to the cottage…the sun came out..went back to Snowdon..got as far as the Horseshoe and the wind was just unbelievable…then it pissed with rain…gave up.
We went there to photograph the lake under the horseshoe..the water level was so low it looked uninteresting.Gives us an excuse to try again…never learn do we :-)

  • richiedean replied

If at first you dont succeed ….......... cheers eddie …..
