As you turn the page, you see an image of an odd-looking lizard climbing a tree. Is it aware of your attention? If you look away from the Atlas for a moment, will your eyes return to find the lizard slightly higher up the trunk? In all probability, every second of this reptile’s journey up a tree is recorded in the Atlas, but finding those few pages in its immensity is extremely unlikely.
