John Wright
Nicely composed Rich. I would love to see this one at sunrise, with light on the building.
Rich Gale replied
thanks John, I may try this locaton at sunrise but I think I would not get any light on this side of the church due to the 3000ft hill behind me. I have another sunset shoot for this locatoion from the other side with it lit by evening sun, unfortunatly the sun had set by the time I reached it this time.

Love the sunset, but like John, I’d also like to see sunrise here…then, I want to hang them side-by-side! :)
Rich Gale replied
thanks Leslie as I replied to John I don’t think that this side of church would get any morning light. I have some ideas for this locatoion so will be going back to shoot it again.

Mel Brackstone
A beautiful scene, Rich! What camera did you switch from to go to the Mk II?
Rich Gale replied
my old 400D, so a big jump for me as for the file size yep there big I think I may use sraw for snap shots and keep the 21mipx for landsacpe work or I’m going to have to be very good about deleting my work. At the mo I have 2X1 tera byte usb disks for my images which I keep in snyc with rsync. Its got about 600gig on it at the mo I suspect Ill fill it up quite quick with 27mb raw images.
I just love the camera all my lens just make so much more sense on it, the controls everything is so much better.
Mel Brackstone
I know exactly what you mean, the camera does finally make the lenses work at the correct focal lengths, and for wide landscapes, that’s exactly what you need! Only prob for me going full frame was having to upgrade to Lee filters and wide angle adaptor, because the cokin holder vignetted too much. I’m up to 4Tb at the moment….LOL! Agreed that raw files can fill em up too fast! Looking forward to seeing more landscapes from you :)
Rich Gale replied
Yep I upgrade to lee system last year I new my 17-40L would vignette with the cokin system, to be honest I was never happy with the cokin filters I used to get all sorts of weird flair when shooting into the sun. Lee are expensive but worth it I think. Bloody hell Mel I thourght I was bad 4Tb of data!!!!.
Anyway can’t wait for some nice weather and get out I’ve loads of locatoins I want to shoot with the new cam.
Rich.
Mel Brackstone
Agreed re cokins too, lol! The new cam makes you want to go back and capture all the stuff you shot before, but if you keep finding new locations it won’t matter. Cheers :)
Tania Palermo
Wow. How could you not like this? There is so much story going on here – so much richness and depth. It’s beautiful with the sunset and water and spooky with the time of day and colors – and the grave stones. I love it.
Rich Gale replied
thanks very much Tania, its was a bit of guess work with the composition as it was to high for me to look through the viewfinder.
