WA Reflections

WA Reflections

North Beach in Western Australia. HDR with 3x images @ +-2 processed in Photomatix after a wee bit of tweaking in CS4.0

The biggest issue I had tonight was getting my tripod to not move when the waves washed under its feet!

Completely ruined at least 10 good shots.

But this one turned out OK!

D80 all images at F14 using a Sigma 10-20 and a Lee grad.

Excellent photo and I like the sympathetic way you have done the HDR treatment. You’ve resisted the temptation to go over the top with it and this result is a beautifully balanced image with wonderful colours. Great piece of work mate. Peter

  • Richard Barry replied

Thanks Peter, that’s actually the first comment on my HDR work that has reflected what I try to achieve with it. HDR to me is not a different art form, rather one that enhances photography and I have to agree, much of what I’ve seen is way over the top… That’s not to say it’s not tempting!! I mainly use HDR when I have a difficult forground – in this case the rocks which are always black no matter how you take the image – HDR allows a decent exposure – and then I pul back on the rest to ‘keep it real’.

I really appreciate your comments mate. Very much

The only way to stop the waves knocking the tripod is to stay out of the waves ;) You’ve done a beautiful job here, that’s an awesome sky, and wonderful reflections!
