Anguish, Despair
My last in the series, at the moment at least. Maybe this is my favorite Ive done.
I wanted to capture the movement in her arm, thrusting the cup out to passers by, She seemed so desperate to gain a little money.
We were with a guide as we walked along this street, and she said the beggars here were genuine. Needless to say she had some coins from me.
I offer no explanation to the image, I think the title says it better than anything else I can say.

This is my favorite of these – it is literally 3D and I love the softness you have created that is such a contrast to the hard luck of this person.- maybe you wanted to soften it for her – or for you. An absolute stunner Ric
Ric Alexander replied
Thank you Kira, It didnt take you long to work this one out, Yes the soft tones were to dampen such hard feelings i had of her, Her struggle. I couldnt soften her position, but maybe a couple of coins could help, Just for that day at least.
Antanas
lovely work…....
Ric Alexander replied
Thank you.
Sonia de Maced...
I personally prefer ‘romancing poverty’, but it’s probably because it looks less real, and more staged, more ‘romanced’... great work on lighting and texture here…
Ric Alexander replied
Thank you Sonia. I am pleased your opinion differs from mine, I like to hear what people like. I wont compare them myself, I find that hard to do, I cannot compare the feelings that I have behind the images which makes it so hard.

Oh Ric. Heartbreaking image. And your processing. I think I recall reading that you’re giving classes?????? ””””waving my arms furiously from the back of the class room”””” Where do I have to go to learn this incredible processing??? Stunning … detail and clarity and softness … and the colors … I’m just in awe. You continue to grow and expand your magnificent style!!!!!!!

your work reminds me a little of one of my flickr contacts – SkyShaper. much of his amazing work is candid street shots, very like this one. he too captures so much more than just the visual. like him, you’ve managed to capture the incredible depth of emotion behind the physical. beautifully and sensitively treated, ric. shot with obvious feeling.
Ric Alexander replied 19 days ago
I am humbled at your comment Tracy. I should like to see his work if you could send a link.
I wish i could give emotion to all my images i have, not just the ones i upload here. I really appreciate your very kind words :-)

It breaks my heart to see a woman reduced to begging for money, it is so sad.
Ric Alexander replied 19 days ago
Yes, It is, and they do everywhere, but i wonder, do they make better proffesional beggars than men ? I think i would be more inclined to give to women than men, Dont ask why, I just would.
