Lovely candid Rhoufi – I think there is always someone to watch over us … a friend, a lover, a family member … sometimes we don’t notice them as they’re in the shadows….
just like the photographer who notices the solitude as he passes by… thank you Cathy, you are so right.
There are times in our lives when it appears that we are the only one paying attention to us… When even we do not feel worthy of our own scrutiny. It is an exceedingly low, incorrect place. A place of error…a place of misplaced self-judgment. Because most of the time,, there is someone, some one person, just waiting to love us ,as we are. But first… first… we must look up and engage the incoming love. And when the hand is offered, we can settle our shoulders under it and be at home. whatever home might mean… good to see new work from you. Like the contrast of the lights and darks; the puddles and the dry, i\the isolation and the connections….And in the top right window, I see another human watching….
Self-judgement is most often in error, isn’t it Sass? We over or under estimate our value by comparison with others. And the longer it goes on the more ureachable we become until we believe there is no one there for us. And yes I see the figure in the top right window… perhaps looking down… perhaps not. Thank you for leaving your words here, I appreciate yu\our considered comments always.
what a shitty feeling that can be…and this image speaks to that emotion really well. great capture…perfect b&w work
Even in a crowd of revellers, if you look outside the group, you see people like this in the margins, hooded and alone – a common theme in my B+W work. Thanks Michael.
Do I see the hint of a mobile phone screen in hand? Maybe there’s actually a deep philosophical conversation going on via text to someone who isn’t so distant after all. Or maybe they’re playing solitaire. Beautifully spotted and framed Rhoufi.
He’s watching the footy for free and experiencing the atmosphere from Etihad Stadium live. Like we used to do in Europe – sit outside a restaurant eating bread, salami and cheese while breathing in the aromas of duck l’orange from the kitchen! Hey, we only had 25 francs to spend each day, what do you expect?
Love the light and reflections, possible stories, and b&w tones or zones.
Thanks Jan, it was the “starry stary night” effect of the artificial lights mixed with the untold story feeling that made me post this. Glad to to see you in my gallery :-)

nice spotting Rhoufi :))
Thanks Christine, so good to be taking shots again, and the “Alone in the City” theme still has its attractions, as does B+W.

Sad.
Too true Ethna. I seem to have a sixth sense for this type of image – Alone in the city.
Many thanks for your visit and comment.
