The Melbourne Arts Centre and lower spire, viewed across the lawns from the Concert Hall.

A drunk tourist sits down to appreciate the magnificent architecture, once described by Melbourne architecture critic, Norman Day, as “a doily on a stick”, thus enshrining it in Melbourne folklore.

    looks like a strange boat…….
quite good for an Art center
great photo, a bit surreal colors, I love that!

  • It was wild when it was built (30+ years ago) and I think most people like it now. They light it up better these days and it can look stunning. Merci Madame, always merci :-)

Very cool image Rhoufi, I’ve never seen her quite like this!

  • It was a view I had not seen before and I was keen to try the high ISO capability of the K-5, and I was not unhappy with the result. Thank you Georgie.

Lovely stick figure Rhoufi – great night shot :-)

  • Thanks Cathy. I must find a photo showing the whole spire so you can see exactly why it is like a doily on a stick.

Am reminded of a sentence my Muma used to deliver to me, when I would tell her I was bored,
If you don’t know what to do, stop until you do, and think about it.".
Pretty solid advice for your tourist there, I.d say.
like how you ’ve captured your city icons…especially like the golden light at the bottom.
    walk in beauty,
    Sass

  • Morning Sass ;-) I think it takes a long time to appreciate your own city. I have lived here a long time, but it is only after taking up photography that I have truly “seen” it. Thank you for your considered comments on all my pages. :-) ~ R
