The only memory I held was her hand by Rhoufi

The only memory I held was her hand by

It seemed as if she had passed right by my table, but when I looked up, it was your hand again, hovering in the after-image, searching and empty…
A tribute to the memory of all those hands that have come within our reach, but that we have failed to seize – of friends not made, and hands not held. (Merci Dwarkan, pour vos mots et d’inspiration)

Single RAW capture: Pentax K-7; FL=47.5mm; A = f6.3; T = 0.3sec; ISO = 500; Ev = -0.3
Post processing in Lightroom 3.5: cropping, exposure, contrast, white balance, sharpening

    … what a great well-timed catch, my friend!! :-D :-D

  • Thanks Ell, this was one of the shots from the Search for People phase of my SoJie translation Whenever I seem far away. I spent a lot of time in cafes trying to get the mood. This didn’t work for me as the translation but I like it as a photograph. Thank you as always.

A great tribute to all these hands we were unable to seize !!!!

  • I am so pleased with this comment Dominique. This was the thinking behind the title and words – a tribute to those we were unable to connect with, far too many to count. May I use your words in the description as well, I would be honoured. Merci, chere ami.

    Fabulous work my friend!

  • Thanks Tim, I have added the EXIF data and submitted it to the Pentax Group. I keep forgetting the EXIF data. This really is the Pentax K-7 doing a superb job. I love the little dear, what a street camera!!! Thank you.

Love the warm burnished hues and that incredible hovering arm. Great shot, even the Flight Centre captain leering from the other side of the street seems to have his place here. Fab title too R.

  • Thank you Georgie. Funny thing about the Flight Centre Captain is that he is exposed correctly only because the waitress passed across the lens and shut off the brightness for a fraction of a second, otherwise he is totally overexposed because the sign is intensely illuminated – so she did a bit of in-situ dodging and/or burning (don’t know which). Just good luck really. I love the hues too – may not be too accurate but they sure are rich. Thanks heaps.

    this is our world…
all what we didn’t dare doing and that the other would have loved we did….
(not sure of my english here ;-)))
I have to find you a song from G. Brassens from a poem called “les passantes”…
    it’s about it , wonderful text…

    this is a fabulous image

  • Your English is perfect, pas problème – histoire de ma vie ;-)
When you find the song, if it is a video, will you come back and post it as a comment?
I would be most pleased, merci Magali :-))))

i always enjoy images where I can see the subconscious had the upper hand

  • It usually take about 2 hours of walking alone with your camera before the subconscious takes control, and that’s when the magic starts ;-)) Thank you for placing your thoughts here :-)
