An autumn kiss, just for YOU

A leaf floating in a footpath puddle, in July
Fremantle, Perth, Western Australia.

Sometimes an image is a trigger that touches a sensibility lying dormant within us; a sign that inspires us to reply to a question we never thought we’d ever answer; to allow our thoughts some air.

So my dear friend Sassafras
allowed herself such freedom.

On his jeweled floor

And when you arrive
shining and new
Forgotten by the fear and pain
you put your body through

On his jeweled floor
we are every one
Laying in his starry arms,
On his jeweled floor we are standing now
See me as I am…
See me as I am…

You’ll come in the afternoon
of a hard travelin’ day
Blown by a stromy sky
that finally passes away

On his jeweled floor
we will meet again
He holds us all in his starry arms
On his jeweled floor I am standing now
Can you see me as I am?
See me as I am…

There’s no demons, only angels
Life will surely fade
Spend it loving tenderly
Or Shiva at your grave,
Sit Shiva at your grave,

On his jeweled floor
we will all be there
He holds us all in his starry arms
On his jeweled floor no one ever falls
See me as I am…,
as we dance a thousand suns?

lyrics by Rickie Lee Jones

    wow, what a shot!

  • Thanks Doreen. I nearly stepped on this little gem and destroyed it. Funny the things you see under your feet if you aren’t looking where you’re going.

How did vampvamp get on that wall? Who is pedantic? Of course it’s autumn. It’s tomorrow already where you live. Could you tell me what Dow Jones and the Nikkei index are tomorrow?

Quite a find, by the way, R.

  • Thanks Jan. Well for a start VampVamp lives in Perth, so I’m sure she goes to Freo a fair bit. But what she’s doing lying in a puddle I don’t know :-) LOL

Tomorrow already. That’s why Australia is so far ahead of the world – you can’t possible catch us; not unless the world stops spinning!!!!! Which some lunatic is probablyworking on right now. :-(((

Somehow I think the financial markets already know about the International Date Line, Jan. Or is that how these billionairs manage to extract their fortunes from ordinary people?

ha ha ha this is fantastic my friend, You have managed to make me giggle and intrigue me all in one moment.. what is this?

  • Thanks Ange, I knew this one would stand out in the image feeds. It’s just a leaf floating in a puddle on a pavement (exposed aggregate paving slabs) in Fremantle, Perth. One lone, red leaf with its pursed lips pouting at the sky, right on the line of the reflection of a row of trees. I just needed to adjust contrast, vignette, and red hue and luminance and bingo – VampVamps lips ;-)))

I totally love this, not least because its a fantastic take on territoty that’s very familiar to me. Lyrical, delightful, startling, insouciant….

  • Thank you Evelyn, we had a nice time wandering the streets of Freo last weekend. It’s all very “stylish” and “designer” down there. We ate in the relaxed atmosphere of Little Creatures and wandered around the arts bulidings between there and the Maritime Museum. It’s a cool place these days and there were many photo ops. This one just jumped up at me as I walked along the street that leads up to the market.

lovely leaf and colors – nicely done :)

  • Thanks Cathy, I was surprised at forst that I needed to describe it, but then I realised how mysterious it really looks.

A kiss from the street… how surreal and poetic !!!!

  • Merci Dominique,
    ah ha, this photographer is in love with the “street”;
    here all life’s dramas and joys are played out;
so surrealism is its poetry and a kiss is more than welcome ;-)

Lovely Capture! as terrible as we are to the earth, we are still given a kiss.
    ps lovely tribute to V V. <3

  • I really appreciate your tragic take on this photo Kathi. Our Earth has been so patient and nurturing of us even though we have treated it so badly. But maybe that patience has finally worn thin. Are you sure that this is not the final goodbye kiss from a good friend who has finally had enough ;-)))
Thank you for your lovely comment.
sorry I accidentally deleted my first reply, so this might be slightly different
