Anges Urbains attendant un taxi céleste - Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris by

Paris Series
Urban Angels waiting for a celestial taxi: Notre-Dame Cathedral, Paris

The patient and orderly,
the anxious and the calm,
the short and the tall,
the alone and the loved,
the alert and the distracted,
the early and the late,

Urban Angels gather under a street light in front of La Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, to wait for a celestial taxi to take them home after a hard day’s work.
Thank you Sassafras for finding the words to match the feeling. You surely are an Urban Angel yourself.

Single RAW capture: Pentax K-7; FL=70mm; A = f2.4; T = 1/20sec; ISO = 1250; Ev= 0.0

Great shot Rhoufi and the description is perfect ! tony

  • Thank you Tony, I think a little description always helps to convey the photographer’s vision of the image.

inst fav love the description out to the side, says it all made all the more poignant without the destraction of colour

  • Thanks Christine. Isn’t it fascinating how B+W does something to some images and not others. I tried to make B+W work for the next one “Young at heart”, but it went flat for some reason – maybe it was the green of the flower, the textures and tones, or the man’s wild colours; whatever, but it just didn’t work properly. You never know when. This one though was a B+W for sure.

    Great shot Rhoufi

  • Thank you Ben. I was siiting opposite on a bench for ages, before the scene caught my eye; just another queue? After a while their patient behaviour got me in.

I love your Street work Rhoufi

  • Thanks Ange, I must admit it is my favourite form of photography. It’s something about the immediacy of it, the random chance and the “true reality” of it. For me it is real life and what you can find can be beautiful. Thanks for saying that, I really appreciate it.

This is a lovely image – great bw and the description describes the behaviors perfectly. Love the light. Wow, the streets are very clean

  • I found Paris very clean, but then the atmosphere for me is so good, maybe I wouldn’t notice if it wasn’t. I don’t think I could ever get tired of wandering this city. Thank you.

    only tourists probably…..
you rarely find a taxi at that hour of the night in that place !!!!!
    better to walk ;-)
funny to see my everydaylife being a kind of jungle for others ;-)

  • Merci Magali. Always better to walk in Paris, no matter how far.
Jungle indeed! Sometimes you need a foreigner to take you by the hand and show you the things about your own city that they think are exotic. Have you heard of a quiet little suburb in the south of Paris called Arcueil-Cachan? It’s so interesting, it almost needs a RedBubble Group all by itself. ;-))))

just fantastic…i’d have loved to roam the streets of Paris with a camera too

  • Thank you Shane. Paris is just wonderful. If you get the chance, wander alone, get completely lost and then wander some more to find yourself – then you will find photo gold.
