A walk on the darkside with René Capitant by

Paris Series

Down along Promenade René Capitant the night shadows take on ominous shapes and portents:

iron grilles become cell doors;
… steps descend into dungeons;
… …bright lights become the tools of the interrogator;
… … … and shadows hide our secret fears.

Another sombre mood from the margins of La Seine.

René Capitant (1901 – 1970) was a French, leftist, Gaullist, lawyer and politician.

“Images Unseen” music by Ralph Towner from the album “Diary”

    That just made it to the top of my “places to visit and take pictures” list:) Nicely seen and very appropriate verse, fits the mood to the T

  • You can say I had you in mind when I gave it the title, but if you do you’ll have to add an accent é to your name. When I go back (a certainty) these areas are going to become haunts. I would love to take a tripod for the difficult light, but it becomes too studied – it also slows you down when you have to run for your life ;-))))
    Thanks René

    You could use the tripod as a defensive weapon:) I’m flattered:), no accentegue on my keyboard though

  • You’ll have one from me from now on ;-)

    Ooh so moody, love it my friend

  • Hi Ange, thank you. Funny thing was my mood was anything but gloomy, I was humming, but this shot just lent itself to a dark mood.

    Beautifull dark place my friend !! Reminds me the book “Les Mystères de Paris” (1843) from Eugène Sue… but I suppose every city in the world has it’s own black mistery !

  • Merci Dwarkan,
    every city indeed! But the Parisian black mystery seems so exotic. I have found an English translation of Eugène Sue’s “Les Mystères de Paris” (1843) and I look forward to submerging myself in its gloomy intrigue. Merci beaucoup.

    this has such a theatrical look to me, as if it is made of cardboard, to a scale that would fit in a shoebox! the light is stunning.

  • It does look like a model, you’re right. Not half as interesting during the day. Thanks Evelyn.

    interesting scene – a bit somber indeed. when you going back?

  • Oh I like sombre Cathy. Paris, again? As soon as possible, for longer, but I’ll need to win the lottery ;-)))

    and you know strange things happen here at midnight…..
    next time you’ll come
    I’ll show you!

  • The strangeness I found by myself was exciting enough, but to go with you, a local !!! Oh la la, not sure my heart would survive, I’m just a simple colonial ;-)))

    a “local”, aaaaaaaaaaah, this word makes me laugh too much….
    I feel I’m an indigen
    not sure you heart will survive either, but if you don’t try……; you’ll never know ;-)

  • Well, with a “native” guide like you, I guess it’s worth the risk ;-)
    Lead on Madame Magali, into the subterranean cavens below Paris in search of exotic adventure. Can’t wait really :-)))))
