Will the real people please stand up? by

The realistic quality of shop mannequins is getting very good. Soon people will aspire to their plaster personas. Least they don’t talk….or do they?

    Interesting image. :-)

  • Notice how all the mannequins are blond, but all the “real” people have really dark hair…hmmm…there’s a message there somewhere. Thank you, Cathy. Must catch up with your new stories, you’re really feeding them in now :-))

Hmm, does that mean blondes aren’t real? They’re certainly not having more fun…or are they?

  • Says more about what the merchants think will attract the market – if Blonde=Glamour, sell Blonde. Old stereotypes are reinforced by market forces and advertising follows it every time. Nice observation Cathy, thank you.

Intriguing selective focus, R. I think one mannequin has reddish “hair”. What are those things—dresses? With frills? I’m clearly not an advertiser’s target market in my woolies. Nice shot and commentary.

Expressive gals ain’t they – one of them has even mastered the art of talking with her shoulder blades and another is sulking. Great image Rhoufi and I love the title!

You know, the longer I look at this, the more I get the feeling that the real people are standing up already:)
I like the taller one the best “what are you looking at buster!?:)”

  • Ha, yes! They do seem more “alive” don’t they. And that tall one seems to be looking straight at the photographer – sprung. I like your observations Rene, thanks for the visit.

These are great love the contrast between the two realities. The attitude on the mannequin is so strong.

  • Thank you Richard, it’s not often you get a street cast that stands still for you. I’m still tussling with a way to translate you Hand Jive. I had better decide soon or I’ll miss the boat ;-))
