‘Can I help you?’

I bring it down to f3.2 – there’s no DOF in a reflection, is there?

‘Can I help you?’

A man’s voice, closer now. He’s talking to me.

‘Sorry? No, not really, I’m fine thank you.’

‘I own the building. Can I help you?’

‘Oh, right! I mean, no. I’m just fascinated by the tree caught in the mirrored facade of your building. I thought it would make a good photograph. Is that OK – I’m on the other side of the street?’

‘No problem. As you were. Go for your life.’

‘Great, that’s what I’m doing, going for my life.’

Strange things happen when you try to free a tree, unjustly imprisoned.

Single capture, converted to high contrast B+W, no photo manipulation.

You didn’t have an angry mob like I did, luckily he understood.. love this in BW!!

  • Well I was a bit taken a back. I was in the station carpark just photographing a building. He crossed the street to talk to me and was clearly worried about me for some reason. There seems to be less acceptance of street photography these days; must be the fear of terrorist’s plots. What a shame that everyone becomes suspicious. Actually the B+W is not much different to the colour because the trees were lit from behind by the setting sun. I just thought the rigid window grid overlaying the free geometry of the branch was interesting. Glad you like it Angela.

  • Angela, tell me the story of your angry mob.

Great capture, like the sillouette of the tree. Very clever title aswell. :-)

  • Thank you again Linda, always try with my titles, I can’t bear to post an “Untitled”, seems such a waste.

    YES!!!! this rocks!!!!!!
    Love it!

And you’re very brave. The few times I’ve ventured out with my camera lately I’ve been told to move on, go away, get out, register at the office, sign in, and/or leave a deposit!

This is really lovely and I know that tree must’ve been happy to see you.

  • Thank you Robin, and yes we’re building a case to have the tree released on bail. Since its plight has been published on the Internet, there has been a ground swell of support ;;;—-)))

I really like this Rhoufi, to me it looks like the tree in the forefront is weaving its way in and out of the bars. Nice little story as well, I think that is why I stay in my car so often….lol

  • Thanks Aart :-) Yes I get selfconscious taking candid portraits in the street, and I often expect objections, but a building!!! I mean, really!

  • Thank you Lyndy, I have recently deleted some images from The Art of Intrique so I could load more and this is such a reward.

    congratulations Rhoufi, well done

  • Thanks Aart, don’t you just love it when the photo you nearly didn’t stop to take, or was a bit difficult to take, actually works out OK. And I do love the Art of Intrigue Group – I think I’ve had more success them than anywhere else.

I love reading you there….. people often wonder that when i take photos ……. Why live n Paris and take an old window in photo… yuo’ve got Eiffel Tower….bla, bla, bla……. I love reflections, and here it’s likeif the tree was in prison …….

  • C’est le même pour moi; les monuments ne m’attirent pas du tout. C’est la petite vue, dans la fin, du détail de la ville – ceux-ci font les meilleures photos; l’oeil intérieur.
