Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne, Australia

Saturday afternoon.

You could hear the guitar and didge a block away. A smooth cross between John Abercrombie and John MacLaughlin: rambling runs up and down the neck of his rhino axe and a deep throated grumble of the extended didge. Everyone was stopping. He sells CDs and his name is Michael Wetzel (thank you Lois). And he was very cool.

Find him and listen.

I love street musicians, they’re a treasure. Wonderful capture.

  • Thank you Kate. Yes they are such an addition to any city and we have many great ones in Melbourne – along with jugglers etc etc

    Great capture Rhoufi! :-)

  • Thanks Linda. His music was quite mesmerizing – the didge and electric guitar worked well together.

this is Michael Wetzel. I have captured him also. I have 3 of his Cd’s and he is great.

  • Oh thank you Lois, I would have bought one but I didn’t have any cash. Would it be rude to ask you which of his CD’s you like the most – I’m going to find him again and buy one?

i bought 3 for i t hink $30.00. he is always there so no trouble finding him. Another great busker is blues guitarist George Kamikawa. i also have his cd’s

  • Thank you Lois, I think the CDs are $20 each – I’ll make sure I carry more cash next time. I thought there might be little difference between one and another, but I would like to hear a whole one. Thanks for the tip.

I could lend you one if i can find them

  • Thank you for the offer Lois, really kind of you, but I don’t mind risking $20 and I gave him some money for the busking anyway. Thanks for the offer though.
