yes…i see the yacht…but what a wonderful horizon:))

  • Thanks Ralph, I was gobsmacked when this tiny yacht went passed and reached a certain speed, it just rose up out of the water (the hull ended up a metre above the water) and all that supported it were those two little struts down to the aerofoils. I’ve seen hydrofoils on powered boats, but never a yacht. I had to wait until he passed by the distant view of the city to catch both together. You’re right Melbourne’s a floating city when viewed from Mornington.

    Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!! superb Rhoufi!! :-)

  • Hi Ell, (see description for Ralph above). This was one of my better ones from 3 hours on the pier and up on the cliffs at Schnapper Point as the sun went down. This guy just kept going backwards and forwards – boy did I want a long lens for this one. Oh well, soon maybe. Thanks for your “Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!! superb”, appreciate it when I get a comment so quickly.

    I agree with you Rhoufi…………………What the……….Lovely image!. :-)

  • Thanks Linda, it just occured to me that the vantage point must seem quite odd – very high up and apparently way out to sea. This alone made it an interesting POV. Thanks for the comment.

Very cool Rhoufi, that kinda sailing looks like fun and I love the distant city too!

  • It does look good doesn’t it. I might try to isolate another one to feature only the “floating city”. Thanks Georgie

    wow !! great capture here

  • Thanks Shoaib, I love it when someone pops up to comment on an image that has gone quiet. I find this shot also quite bizarre – like where the hell is the photographer? It seems like an impossible shot, but I was just in a cliff and this unfolded in front of me.

What a curious creation? Does it have pontoons or is it a very rough ride above the waves?
    Hmmm…curious minds want to know.
But I will say, your capture of the skyline and sky is very , very nice
2 B in or near the water, the mermaid sighs…soon, soon.
    Peace,
    sass

  • To see this sailing is a most improbable vision… no pontoon below the water but a hydrofoil! As the design reaches a certain speed the whole thing rises out of the water and knifes through the water at very high speed and the roughness of the waves are not noticed at all.

And the skyline is my Melbourne floating on the horizon on the other side of the mighty Port Philip Bay. I live on the other side of those towers. Never be too far from the sea svelt mermaid or you will dry up and swim no more… plung on dear Sass plunge on ;-)

I will, I will…could never endure living inland, unless
there was a big river nearby…
