Great textures! :-)
Hi Linda, the textures didn’t really appear until I made it B+W, but that’s what I was trying to accentuate. Thanks heaps, love to hear from you.
WOWEEEEE!!! I love the old and new right next to each other……the textures are so great, the composition is phenomenal. Makes me want to know more!
Hi Robin, than you. Yes the objects in the window had me fascinated. Notice the stacked-up soda fountains up the top (what the!) and the dipsey light shade – I can’t even remember what the shop (store) was. Probably overpriced second-hand stuff.
I love that you cropped this into a square. I see most compositions in square format so this is right up my alley ( do you have alleys?) lol Excellent BW image!
You like square too! Why do so many people think it has to be 1:1.5 or some other aspect, I don’t understand that. For me a photo has the shape that the subject dictates – the elements determine the proportions. So glad you like square. And yes we have alleys – in fact we drive into our garage via a back alley (mostly called lanes or laneways, here). They are paved in big bluestone (basalt) blocks. Melbournians love their alleys/lanes. Thanks for your comment.
beautiful and full of appealing elements – this scene says ‘Paris’ to me before it says ‘Melbourne’!
Thanks Georgie, it does look like a European city doesn’t. Maybe that’s why I was attracted to the subject. It’s in Brunswick Street Fitzroy, somewhere between Rose and Argyle. Near BSG :—)
love this, fantastic shot
Thanks Wendy, glad to get a comment like this from someone who likes urban landsapes too.
uber cool, love that you processed it in b&w
Hi Aart, thank you. There are so many cool things in Brunswick Street, you never know what you’ll find if you look hard enough. Only two days to go, though ;—D
oh yes, don’t I know it and now we are down to only one day……..grrrrrrrrrrr
And then there was…well…a 2nd chance! The eye of a photographer, misses nothing. Provided they are open, of course ;—D)
22 hours to be precise. The consolation prize won’t be too bad.
excellent work :))
Thanks Christine. Isn’t it strange how the simplest things that you pass everyday can make interesting photos in B+W. I just love that. The urban landscape is so interesting.
Merci Jean-Luc. Croyez-vous qu’il ressemble à Paris? Je finirai le voir l’année prochaine pour moi – cela a été 32 ans.
