One of those moments when the world throws up geometry and whimsy as if it happens all the time.

These two guys just emerged from a doorway, walked down Flinders Street passed the paneled, facade of Federation Square, turned a corner and vanished. I was walking up Flinders Street on the the other side when I saw them. My camera was still in my bag; a tram was coming from Swanston Street and would block my view in about 10 secs; and the cars were moving off from the lights as well. By the time I fired up the camera and raised it the tram was about 20m from the right-hand side of the viewfinder and an improbable gap appeared between the cars going west. I got off 2 shots only before the tram filled the frame. When the tram had gone, so had the two guys.

This is what I love about candid, Street Photography – through the madness and the mayhem of city life there are the briefest moments of human grace.

This must be what people call “luck” – to be at the right place at the right time. Then you add talent to it and this is what you get! Given how often we talk about geometry – I can’t get over it! The world is a mysterious place!
