thankyou so much everyone for voting. I’m quite proud of this picture, it was also voted best picture in a local competition judged by the Australian photographer David Oliver whose work I admire.

This looks like a 1964 Ford XM headlight…is it?

Dead cool. A real cinematic quality to this. Sort of a road movie shot. Top stuff.

Wow. That car is great condition for a 1963/4(?) XL (?) Falcon. No, I’m not a car buff, but my first car in Australia was a 1962 XK station wagon. The XK had the dubious distinction of being introduced shortly before the Perth (Western Australia) Commonwealth Games and a lot of people bought them to travel across to Perth from the east – about 800 miles of dirt road on the way. Apparently there was a design or manufacturing problem with the front suspension – and some of the cars didn’t get all the way and even ten years later (I first drove cross – not in the XK) in 1973, people at the roadhouses along the way were very happy to share stories of the highway being ‘littered with XK front ends’.
