Unlucky Youth Lucky Man

A hapless man is finally rid of his curse.

Unlucky Youth Lucky Man belongs to the following groups:

Flash Fiction and Writing: Persuing Happiness

Diagnosed with dyslexia in the first grade, it seemed I had the worst luck. On my first no-training wheels bike ride, I was hit by the garbage truck; spent six months in hospital.

Recovered, I went to a sleep over. High on Hawaaian Punch, I jumped on the bed and got five raps by the ceiling fan and dashed in a heap on the floor; busted neck, jaw, forearm and three weeks of amnesia. Further incidents required stitches and hospital stays.

As an adult, my luck changed. Counting numbers with the TV lotto lady; I was curse-free! Standing in my multi-million dollar prize line I almost jumped for joy; too many fans though. The clerk verified my identity, looked at my ticket, affirming numbers. “Six, check, six, one check one, one check one, nine check,(pause) wait a minute sir, you have a six here not a nine.”
