Just A Shot Away by Rhinovangogh

Another of my protest pieces against the robbery at Wall Street. 24" X 48" acrylic on canvas. The Title "Just A Shot Away is borrowed from a Rolling Stones tune called:
Gimme Shelter
“…Ooh, see the fire is sweepin’
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way

War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away
War, children, it’s just a shot away
It’s just a shot away…"

Unsigned and unfinished as of12/28/2011

I love the surreal and subtle, evil greed in this work!

  • Thanks so much. I try to express the frustration and amazement I feel about the crooks and cronies plundering the economy. Tax dollars paying for outright robbery! Happy New Years!

hmm, good theme, especially suited to your verbose and corpulent main character.. i think you could work a nice series on this angle. however, in my opinion your imagery is vivid and evocative enough and can do without the obvious inclusions. well played.

  • Hi Rex, I think my poems, better state my contempt for the Wall Street crooks et al. Thnaks for the kind words brother! Happy New Years in case I miss you.

Powerful emotion and statement in this beautiful surreal artwork. I love the symbolism and imagery a perfect juxtaposition.

  • Thanks Anthea. I find it hard not to be angry at the robberies of so many Americans savings and homes. Why we put up with it is beyond me. I protest in paint. Cheers, J
