From The Series “I Get Up In The Morning, Chasing Picasso”

Here is a follow up to “I Get Up In The Morning And My Lips Are Blue”

This painting is in awareness to mental illness, Bi-Polar as it hits close to home. No its not me, although maybe a little crazy lol

One pill makes me happy and one pill makes me sad… so goes the saying… All of life is precious from the mentally challenged to the beautiful people, and many beautiful and talented minds are trapped within the confines of mental illness and we all need to try to understand and work to help those afflicted

Here is a technique I like to use from time to time… seems to work better on 400 series pastel stock I have worked it on many other materials but my favorite for this technique is 400 series pastel stock
Lay down the colors you want to come through in acrylic, then lay down wax over them, or as in this case…. crayons, melt it into the other colors with a heat gun, or hair dryer and then finish up your painting in other colors that will partly remain then using your heat gun again… and with the sharp end of a putty knife, using your heat gun as the colors start to melt rub off with the knife as much paint of the top layers as you need to achieve the results you want… best of luck

As a self-taught working artist, I have always believed that we are all blessed with gifts. It’s up to us to recognize and develop them; to what extent we will use those gifts to benefit others that cross our path.

This work is filled with emotion… deep seated emotion. Your description adds such clarity to what your art is saying. Your description on how you use the acrylic and crayon is quite interesring. Would love to see this painting up close to see the dimensions your technique leaves on the canvas. I like the way that there is not one square centimeter on this canvas that does not add to its whole. You are a true artist (with much talent) and a wonderful wordsmith.
