Follow-up to The Yellow Brick Road

As most people know, I always work on more then 4 to 6 paintings at a time
an old habit from my graphic designer, illustrator days… when I had to work on tight deadlines, I learned to work on more then a few pieces at a time, especially after learning my clients moods and tastes… Now I am thankful for learning that skill, balancing half a dozen works at a time… funny like that lol… This work reflects the coming year… 2012, and the economy here in USA, and of course the rest of the globe… I am Blessed to have had a good year… not great like years pass… but good never the less…good….
If our Congress ever gets off their hands and does something for the good of the counrty (USA) and not just for the few Our congress now has a 9% approval rating among my countrymen… 5% in my book we look to 2012 with hope and prayers for all the less fortunate, the homeless, the hungry, our fellow human beings who need our help… May your Christmas bring joy and peace and hope… for a better new year, then the one we leave behind… we are all God’s children and deserve compassion, freedom, peace, and love…. One of the richest counrtys in the world… and we have hungry, homeless children in the streets…shameful, shameful America… Shameful

beautiful shapes, lines and colours. I love the mystery felt, created so wonderfully by the overlapping and inward leaning of the trees and hills. Love it.

  • thank you my dear for the comment

A work of power and extraordinary beauty coupled with powerful, passionate writing filled with passion and compassion. Year 2011 has been a very intense and life changing year – so much that is hard with challenging events and life situations and as a world so many things we need to focus on. Here is to a beautiful Christmas of celebration and love and to a new year of kindness, freedom, love and unity for all people and nations in 2012. Lets make 2012 a year to dream big and turn our dreams into a reality. I love this painting dear Rey, the composition, colours, layers of meaning and emotion make this work indeed breathtakingly beautiful and captivating dear Rey. xxx

Wonderful work and words, Rey – when I lived in California i was shocked by the poverty that I saw only a few miles away from were I lived – it is shameful.

  • I know I see homeless everywhere I go shameful… wish I could help each and every one of them

Your painting speaks to me of the many roads of possibility. As Dorothy found out, following an ideal is only half the battle, as along the way we are going to be asked to help meet others needs. And once reaching it all, well, things are not always what they seem to be. But always the power to effect change is present with us. I see many images imersed within the work that we will meet along the way. But I’m encouraged to know, as in the vibrant colors here, there is more than enough to go around. There is enough money, food, resources available so that no one need be without – but there needs some adjustment as to how we perceive and allow our leaders to work in the world. Your painting is one of good spirit. I really love it.

  • thank you Ken your words are both inspiring and good to read… yes there are many signs and images I incorporated into this work…as this is a piece I labored with along with 3 others when I ran into a wall I would switch to the other 3 of this kind, and when I ran into another wall I would work on 2 other large paintings and editing a photography commission… the thing is to keep your (my mind engaged) in the passion of the project that I am working on… till I lose the passion (for the Day) or get tired, or lose the light and then I quit for the day…sometimes for the weekend or the week and don;t get back to it till the passion is burning inside my soul and must complete the work… then it comes together in a whirl and with the snap of the fingers the work(s) are completed like magic… funny like that thanks for fav also friend…passion drives the work… if its not there I don’t work

I see the many faces hidden in the tornadoes and beyond. All different ethnicities, the hard-working and the innocence that has forever left the souls of our children. I never saw a homeless person when I was a child. But my daughter and I have seen so many. Emma has such a generous heart, and has given her allowances away many times. Too bad that Congress cannot learn from the generosity of our children. The green angry face in the foreground is no doubt the Congress as I perceive them to be. As the wizard in Oz, they are all so disconnected from the rest of us. There is so much brilliance, compassion, and passion in this painting I cannot even comment on. I never doubted your brilliance. May your new year be blessed with so many blessings that come only from God. Thank-you. love, matty

  • you can always read my work pretty close dear matty thank you so much for the beautiful compliment
