I cut my teeth on pastels way back in the 7th grade…I remember my art teacher introducing pastels and only for the advanced students could use them… as she had bought them with her own money… Wow …I remember thinking what a neat-o-o-o medium…Yeah also cool, groovy, and, dig it man… we used to say things like that…, a life time ago…we could use the edges and sharpen them to pin point for detail…. She reinforced my dreams of been an artist…becoming an artist… wasn’t an artist then…just a young poor boy with dreams…thank you dear…she has since passed, I think…funny like that.

As a self-taught working artist, I have always believed that we are all blessed with gifts. It’s up to us to recognize and develop them; to what extent we will use those gifts to benefit others that cross our path.

I got my first of pastels when I was 11 or 12 years old. A set of the old Grumbachers in the mahogany case with over 100 colors. I thought I was rich beyond all dreams. I paid for it with my allowance with it on lay away until I paid it off. Believe it or not, I still have most of the set. Gorgeous work Rey. :o)

  • Thank you dear Bunny for the compliment much appreciate. You were rich…I was blessed that Art teachers and people were always buying me art supplies…I didn’t buy my first set of pastels, watercolor set… till after I graduated from High school. Thanks dear

It’s not too bad during the day, but goes below freezing as soon as the sun goes down. The person who invented the electric blanket should be made a saint!
