Short Story (fable) by Anthea Slade
Wife or Mistress or Soulmate?
Carrington loved his wife Jasmine. She was mysterious and demure but there was another woman at his work with a bold and fiery libido. Charlotte was her name.
Jasmine was supportive and stable in her emotion. She was passive and Carrington felt at peace with her. But at times he hungered for heat and she was often aloof and filled with freezing indifference. Charlotte on the other hand was hot. She exuded attitude and the desire for carnal pleasure burned in her eyes. When he was near her, he was distracted and the fire for connection burned in his loins.
Charlotte could feel Carrington’s attraction to her and she responded by parading her firm pert breasts in a tight fitted white sweater in front of him. She smiled a smile of mutual knowing letting him see she was aware of what he wanted. When he looked at her he could feel his resistance weaken. But resist he did. And struggle.
Each night he would return to his wife. Each day he would resist Charlotte and all her intentions. Fantasies came at night as his sweet quiet wife turned her back on his advances and went to sleep leaving him aching in bed beside her. The more his wife denied him sexual love the hotter the flame burned for the primal passion of the other woman. Tears welled in his eyes as he lay beside his wife in bed all pent up and deep in emotional pain. She no longer wanted him. In desperation his thoughts turned towards the other woman. Yes his wife was always there, calm, stable and he could always rely on her except at night when he craved her body and she was cold. He touched her gently and she would say in a still smooth voice, ‘Not tonight dear, I am too tired.’
Charlotte, the other woman was edgy and spirited and he could feel the ripe desire of passion in her eyes. His eyes stared at her eyes, her lips and then went over every bump of her body. She watched him looking at her and she smiled. She felt him struggle with himself and she waited. Carrington wrestled between his mind commitment to his wife and his desire for Charlotte for over six months. The more his mind won, the more he ached for the passion the other woman offered. Soon the emotional pain of his wife not wanting him grew so intense that he could feel his heart breaking. Charlotte looked into his heart and she knew she could help.
She invited him to coffee. He said ‘No’
She invited him to drinks. Still ‘No’
She invited him to dinner. ‘No’
She invited him to bed. He could not resist. He said ‘Yes’
He entered life, as he entered her body, together in unity they soared heights of ecstatic bliss. Quenching, satisfying every desire through their mutual passion they made love through the night turning every erotic fantasy into reality. Dreams can become real. He smiled and was satisfied. This was the missing ingredient in his marriage.
He went back to his wife. He loved her so but his primal hunger for the other woman burned inside. He knew he would leave his wife’s bed again for the passion of the other woman. Charlotte offered him the spontaneous sensual flow of the flesh that was primal and uninhibited.
Fast Forward Two Years.
His wife Jasmine found out and she left him. The affair with the mistress changed from new to old and Carrington told her that he must leave and go it alone. Even though she was passionate and sexy she did not provide the stability and nurture of his wife. Carrington spent some years alone looking at his shadow side and discovering his feminine qualities and integrating the sensitivity and tenderness of his heart with the boldness and courage of his character. The more balanced he became within himself the more he decided that he would seek a woman who was also integrated. A woman who could be a hot sexy siren as well as a tender, sensitive girl. A woman who could be a friend, a playmate, a wife and a lover. He searched a long time for this woman and then finally one day when he had given up hope of finding her, she arrived in his life.
He looked into her eyes and he knew he would be with her. A calmness covered him and mingled with his passion. He held out his hand to her and asked,
‘Sophie shall we dance?’
And she said, ‘Yes.’
In that moment his wife and mistress became one in his soul mate Sophie.
He smiled. ‘At Last.’
