A lot of my work comes for life experiences and many I am inspired by events. This painting I painted yesterday. I was working on another painting and reached a stopping point and as I stepped out 5 crows landed in my front yard just,
as I grabbed my camera as I keep it with me as I paint to capture progression of my work.
Then 5 more crows, and then 10 , then 20, and and maybe 50…..then I lost count as I snapped away capturing them in flight and just in front of me. There is an old Mexican Legend about crows landing and circling as these did about crows picking up souls and souls saying good bye to loved ones, as they are carried by crows, a group of crow (murder of crows) hence the Title. As my beloved Uncle had just passed away this week, as they circled above me I felt a sense of good bye, and sadness from this sweet and kind man my Uncle, and was inspired to paint this work in his memory.
Murder of Crows

And today I just finished painting a large portrait canvas of him that I will give to my Aunt.
My Uncle Carlos was One of the sweetest and kindest man that I have ever been privileged to know. He had fought in World War II in a B17 bomber crew, He had just married my Aunt and then went off to war, for 4 years.
And all my life I never hear an unkind word from him or my Aunt. They were married almost 69 years and she is distraught, as I can understand. The nicest kindest, couple I have ever known, next to my folks as I have also never in my life heard an unkind word or seen them fight. How does that happen……..True Love……growing up in the Great Depression and working since they were very young never going to school. I admire what they accomlished and are still married to each other.

    Murder of Crows by Reynaldo

Rey, this is such a exquisite and beautiful painting and heart touching tribute to your beautiful Uncle Carlos. I love how the front Crow is bold and defined and the other crows that form the murder are subtle and impressionistic. The soft and gentle white and blue background adds to the feeling of love that is expressed in each brush stroke and each word you have written. Thank you so much Rey for sharing this deeply heart felt story and tribute and sensitive and deeply meaningful painting with us. I love them both. I am so sorry for your loss dear Rey. xxx

  • you are so kind my dear partner for your always thoughtful insight into my work….. I appreciate your comments and compliments as you know. And thank you for your private thoughts dear Anthea, I appreciate very much xxx
