No Way Out

He lived his life
On terms his own
He needed no one
He was alone.

He liked it this way,
No reason to worry.
His days were his own
No reason to hurry.

Yet there were those times
When he felt a pain.
A longing for more. . . a need
He could not explain.

He had been alone for so long now
He wasn’t sure if he could allow
Himself to trust another human
He didn’t know if he even knew how.

He just wanted to shout?
What was this about?
Why must things change?
. . . Is there no way out?!

Thank you for recommending this song too Rosie… Love it!!

Ry Cooder ~ Paris, Texas

Created this image from my own photos and searched for music that would fit it. The song was perfect and I became inspired by how desolate the rider (Mike Lewis thank you) appeared. Then that inspired the poem. . . I love when that happens…

The image is so well done… reflecting a deepness to match the words, that are so well written.
That inner longing for someone, for something that contradicts the independence that has shapped ones life… ya nailed it Rhonda :)
