Pagoda-Walker Shadow07
My entry to the “Praise of shadows” competition.
An explaination is probably in order here too..
The book the competition was based on addressed issue of traditional sensibilities being over-ridden by western influences,...leaving behind the natural world, and willingly entering into an artifically lit, technology driven environment.
What i was trying to portray here, was the old world, having been effected by technology, walks free of it`s own past into something unknown. Old world meets new, yet still being a part of one another.
The Pagoda creeps out of the panel of a wood-cut style print.
Aged paper textures, Spray paint & inks, all brought together in photoshop.
I`ve positioned the image on the shirt a little larger than I would have it printed, mainly so it`s details are clear..

oooh, great stuff!
even without the explanation, you instantly notice those themes of old and new and the transition from one to the other. A very well planned and thought through image. And the composition is clever.
