According to this article the Northern Bobwhite is endangered provincially and nationally.
How this darling came to be on my property is still unknown to me. I have been told by a local naturalist that she most likely escaped from a private breeder as there are no birds (to anybody’s knowledge) living wild in our area.
I have more investigating to do this weekend to see where she came from.
In the meantime, I hope she can stay safe and comfortable in the windmill garden she’s decided to hide out in. I have truly enjoyed her company this week. I’ve named her Bobby. I’d very much like to keep her :)
