Some may totally disagree with my title but I LOVE jumping spiders and think they are beautiful :) It looks absolutely huge in macro mode but was no bigger than my thumb nail.

Photo taken in my backyard, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada with a Canon Rebel EOS XTi and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens.

Amazing colors in this one, sweetie!!!!!!!!!!! And I agree, they are beautiful!!! The only problem with jumping spiders is … they … JUMP!!!!! When you least expect it!!!! Fab, fab, fab details!!! Goodness … he’s a hairy little dude, isn’t he!!! I LOVE the two little hairs on top of his head … they look like horns!!

  • Thank you Lois. I am fascinated with these little guys and the thought of them jumping doesn’t bother me in the least :)

OK, Renee, you have managed to really gross me out on this one. Number 1, there’s no way I’d get close enough to take a macro of a jumping spider. Number 2, this thing is staring right at you!! And number 3, it looks like it has a split green tongue, (the better to eat you with)! GROSS! Nice shot, but boy are you BRAVE! LOL.

  • LOL….my mission is accomplished ;) Yes, they are curious little spiders. Instead of running they will turn and look at you a lot of times. Those beautiful green things by it’s mouth are mandibles. They are all sparkly. Actually she has bits of irridesence all over her body…beautiful! No bravery required hun…she’s just an itty bitty thing!

    NO NO and NO.
You know fine well I don"t like spiders.
Now, a nice landscape with sepia clouds would have been much better.
    :)

    Fantastic!

  • Thank you Mr. Onions. Watch out or she’ll JUMP on you!
