The Emerald Swallowtail Butterfly – also known as the Emerald Peacock or Green-Banded Peacock – is found primarily in South East Asia. It has iridescent scales that give their wings a glittery appearance.

I created the background from scratch in Corel Painter, added various texture layers, and inserted this beautiful swallowtail from an image I took at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls.

My first thought when I saw this beauty was “looking into the abyss”.
    Coolness Renee.

  • Thanks Von. Yay – that’s what I was trying to achieve – to give the impression that the swallowtail was looking down into the depths of a rainforest :)

  • Thank you sweetie! I’ve just started creating my own bg (meaning from scratch instead of a photo). I’m having a lot of fun with it and am thrilled that you like it :)
