Black Lab Portrait - in Black & White

Featured in Cats & Dogs – April 10, 2009

I took the original Color version, converted to black and white, adjusted the tones and gave the background a textured finish.

Every single piece of hair on the dog was painted & blended with watercolor and airbrushes. Work completed using Photoshop, Corel Painter X and a Wacom Tablet.

A masterful portrait! It must be nice to have a dog that sits still! I have an 8-month-old Jack Russell terrier and most times, he is just a blur! :-))

  • Renee Dawson replied

Thank you very much Lyle. This was a friend’s dog and he was tuckered out after having a lengthy swim :)
